Dream - A total of 24 Indonesian citizens were arrested by the Saudi Arabian Police at the Bir Ali Mosque, the miqat location for Hajj pilgrims heading to Mecca. They were detained because they could not show their Hajj visa as a requirement for entry into the city of Mecca.
Consul General (Conjen) of the Republic of Indonesia for Jeddah, Yusron B Ambary explained that dozens of Indonesian citizens have undergone an examination process at the local prosecutor's office. The result is that only two Indonesian citizens have undergone legal proceedings as coordinators.
"Two individuals who are identified as MH and JJ, along with the driver and bus owner, were detained,"
According to Yusron, Thursday, May 30, 2024, as reported by Merdeka.com.

According to Yusron, both coordinators have been designated as suspects and detained in Madinah. Based on the examination results, it is known that the suspects received hajj payment funds ranging from Rp25 million to Rp150 million from each Indonesian citizen who was promised to perform the hajj pilgrimage.
"Apparently, these 22 people are pilgrims who have already paid fees ranging from Rp25 million to Rp150 million to the coordinator."
kata Yusron.

"While 22 other Indonesian citizens from Banten were released because they were declared innocent. They were released because the arrest took place in Madinah and they had not yet performed the hajj. 'They were released because they were not at the hajj location,' he said."
"Dipulangkan" in English is "Returned".
This is different if the Indonesian citizens are arrested while in the city of Mecca or during the pilgrimage. There is a high possibility that the 22 Indonesian citizens will be deported. "Those 22 are advised to return home and have already been released, so just wait," he concluded.
