Dream – Not only having captivating natural attractions, Pekalongan has successfully become one of the cities in Indonesia known as a leading center for batik craftsmen. Seeing this, the Government of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) is actively taking steps to support the digitalization of the batik industry so that Pekalongan batik can be known worldwide.
"With this initiative, it successfully ignites the spirit of local batik business actors, including Fatkhurrozaq, the owner of Grosir Klamby business, who is committed to helping batik craftsmen and workers in Pekalongan by presenting a collection of Muslim batik fashion that is not only attractive but also keeps up with current trends by promoting their products, one of which is through the TikTok platform."
It all started during the pandemic in 2022, Fatkhurrozaq proved that TikTok is more than just an entertainment platform, but an effective promotional place. With the applied promotional strategy, Grosir Klamby experienced significant growth, where the number of batik craftsmen who successfully joined to collaborate increased dramatically from 50 to 1,000 people.
"Initially, I often saw my wife frequently using the TikTok platform for entertainment until she tried the experience of shopping with free shipping," said Fatkhurrozaq in his statement on Tuesday, February 13, 2024."
According to him, TikTok users are quite large and very supportive of selling with a different concept. His wife encouraged him to sell on TikTok and offered affordable and fashionable batik clothes with a casual and multifunctional style. "Not only successfully empowering thousands of craftsmen, but our income also grows exponentially every year," said Fatkhurrozaq.
Having a number of followers up to 1.6 million, the main strategy used by Grosir Klamby in optimizing its business is by continuously improving the quality of video content and products promoted through its TikTok account. Similarly, the high enthusiasm towards batik fashion such as kaftans, nightgowns, prayer gowns, and other Muslim clothing produced by Grosir Klamby apparently attracts high interest from the young and adult segments, especially during festive occasions.
For example, when conducting the Ramadhan 2023 promotional campaign, sales of this Muslim batik product skyrocketed several times, especially considering Indonesia as one of the countries with the largest Muslim population in the world.
"In the business journey of Grosir Klamby, there are certainly ups and downs, including when the shopping feature on TikTok was closed. At that time, we remained enthusiastic about creating content and continuing the livestream because we were thinking about the fate of the tailors around Kabupaten Batang, the workers of batik pranggok, and all the parties who depend on Grosir Klamby for their livelihood," he explained.
After the shopping feature on TikTok became active again, of course, the business sales turnover of Grosir Klamby gradually improved. With the extraordinary response from TikTok users, Grosir Klamby not only empowers craftsmen but also employs more content teams to maximize their presence on TikTok. Currently, Grosir Klamby spends 12 to 16 hours a day, divided into four to five live streaming sessions every day, guided directly by the business owner and the content team.
Although its efforts are still relatively new, Grosir Klamby's achievements are considered quite successful. One of the major accomplishments in 2024 is that Grosir Klamby is currently in the process of building its own factory, which is an extraordinary progress considering that Grosir Klamby used to be a home-based business. Not only that, Grosir Klamby plans to continue its collaboration with 11 other batik production factories in the country.
Wholesale Klamby participated in a campaign initiated by TikTok and Tokopedia to promote local batik businesses with the name, #MelokalDenganBatik. Through this program, Wholesale Klamby recorded a significant increase in sales of 64% with the strategy of launching five new exclusive products and offering discounts of up to 60% during the campaign period.
"We want to grow and develop together with the batik craftsmen and tailors from Pekalongan and Batang, who used to empower dozens of people and now have successfully empowered hundreds of people," said Fatkhurrozaq.
With this program, of course Fatkhurrozaq and the Grosir Klamby team are very happy to be able to provide job opportunities for other communities and hope that Grosir Klamby can continue to be part of Indonesia's cultural heritage and inspire people to have confidence in wearing batik, while also supporting the local batik industry.
